1. Moreton Island
Moreton Island is one of Australia’s largest sand islands. Moreton is only a 75 minute ferry trip from the port of Brisbane and there are plenty of day trips available to explore the island. Activities include snorkeling the shipwrecks, sandboarding, 4WDing, visiting the beautiful beaches, rock pools and more.
2. Southbank Parklands
Southbank is located on the banks of the Brisbane river and offers kids activities, eateries, great views, markets, lush parklands, a man-made beach, giant Ferris wheel and plenty of events happening all year round.
3. Mount Coot-tha Lookout
Mount Coot-tha is located just a short 15-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD. Being Brisbane’s largest natural area, Mount Coot-tha has plenty of hiking tracks and forest walks that show off the Australian natural landscape. Mount Coot-tha also boasts the best view of Brisbane at the look out point, visited by many tourists daily, as well as a restaurant where you can dine while you enjoy the view.
4. Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC)
QPAC is located in South Brisbane and is one of Australia’s leading centres for live performances. QPAC welcomes over 1.3 million visitors per year and 1200 performances. It is also in the cultural and educational precinct right next to the Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Museum, State Library and 2 Australian Universities (want to apply for a student visa now?)
5. A cruise on the Brisbane River
There are different Brisbane river cruises to choose from that offer a guided tour of what this city by the river has to offer.
